A once brilliant gym now disappointing, the rules are never enforced. Didn't used to be this way as I've been going here a long time but now it's down right disappointing. Just tonight for an example of what goes on, a man stripped down to his boxers for a half hour or longer photo-shoot in the main section of the gym while everybody looked on clearly wondering why it was being allowed and he wasn't even approached this one might not break the official rules but for a mainstream/family gym it ridiculous. Images/Videos- The amount of people taking pictures and videos with you right there in the shot, which is supposedly not allowed. Never seen anybody pulled for it and it happens constantly makes everybody I've spoken to feel uneasy while attending.Throwing Weights Down In The New Section (should really be made to put rubber mats below the weights which there is an abundance of) - There's a new section in the center of the gym which adds a decent amount of equipment but also more barbell areas. Naturally its basically there for the people trying to show off dropping the biggest weights they can lift off the floor as its right in the center. I don't care if people drop weights but these people make such a huge racket it echoes around the entire gym and makes everybody look on even people in the 'proper' weight area which is the kicker. There's regulars who do this for fun, throw the weights down and look at everybody impressed with themselves and nothing is said. People Hogging Machines and Equipment- There are people every time you go in who will sit on a machine (which there is only one of) or sit with LOTS of equipment (there isn't a huge amount to start with) and do nothing but be on their phone, might sound picky but they'll sit there for 15 minutes to half an hour or sometimes longer. Just making people more aware of rules and pushing a friendly vibe and making people aware of this will help stop it.- People never put equipment back its absolutely everywhere in the gym and I mean everywhere, you see the staff running around like crazy to try and make it tidy and considering its one of the rules why not just enforce it more to free up the staffs time.... and their sanity.Heaters- The changing room heater could be broken but its cold in there, not good for people getting showers. The staircase one is just never turned on hot anymore and in fact has been set to cold a lot of times even on nights it's -2 degrees which I find hard to mix up considering its blue for cold, red for hot.I hope this comes across as constructive criticism because I want this gym to be better!
Typical sort of kit. Busy but not crowded in the evenings. You will struggle if you are a rower: 10 Ergs and could not get one above a 140 drag factor, and they all need a clean and a dose of maintaining.
We started going to pure gym about 8 month back now and wouldnt go anywhere else. We have shopped at Tescos for years and noticed how many people attended the gym so decided to try it out. We started by getting a personal trainer to show us the ropes and now we are away on our own with our own little fitness plan and have seen many benefits from our time here. Staff are wonderfully and helpful and really friendly. The facilities are great location is great as we can go to the gym and then do our cool down and do some shopping! Great little cafe next door as well if you need a coffee or food boost!
Open 24/7, 365 days a year. Competitively priced and with a good selection of equipment. Vending machines are available with shakes, snacks, and even padlocks and towels. There is also a water fountain, TV's on every wall and a continuous feed of music. Lockers and a shower room are also available if required. There is always someone available if you have any questions or queries and the gym is under constant CCTV watch. The gym is usually packed during the day and given it's price and location it is prime choice for a lot of people. This does however mean that most of the equipment is in use. Although the treadmills, bikes and cross trainers are usually available you'd have to get there fairly early or wait some considerable time if you want to use the free weights and benches as these are very popular.
Excellent gym and very convenient location. Good& helpful staff.
